Precast concrete assembly
The national annex to NS-EN 13670:2009+NA:2010 “Execution of concrete structures” specifies qualification requirements for key personnel involved in precast concrete assembly. The standard sets requirements for the assembly foreman/tradesman (“bas”), assembly manager and quality control manager. It also requires documentation of prior knowledge, supplementary courses that have been completed and passed and minimum practical experience within the relevant execution class. The Norwegian Council of Concrete Competence issues certificates to confirm that the standard’s qualification requirements have been met based on the documentation presented.
Precast concrete assembly includes all installation activities including casting joints. Overlays on precast elements are not part of the installation process, and are considered in-situ concrete works. The installation of floor slabs (“plattendekker”) is treated as formwork under in-situ concrete works, while the installation of double/twin walls (e.g. of the type “Con-form”) is considered precast concrete assembly. Pouring activities (filling the wall formwork) are covered under Section 9.6.2 – in-situ concrete works.
The Norwegian Council of Concrete Competence issues certificates within the following competence classes:
UMKL | Assembly manager, quality control manager – precast concrete assembly in all execution classes |
UMFB | Assembly foreman/tradesman (“bas”) – precast concrete assembly in all execution classes |
The following courses have been approved for awarding certificates:
U5 | Assembly of precast concrete elements for assembly managers, assembly foremen and tradesmen (“bas”), all execution classes |
